1.What is Stay and Learn?
Stay and Learn is a daily, 3 hour drop-off program for children between the age of 2 ½ and 4 for members of the Children’s Museum of Richmond. Small, structured classes will take place from 9:00am to 12:00pm, Monday through Friday. Parents may sign their children up online for Stay and Learn up to 48 hours prior to the desired program date.

2.What is the cost for Stay and Learn?
The daily cost for Stay and Learn is $25.00 for the first child and $20.00 for each additional sibling.

3.Do I need to be a member to enroll my child in Stay and Learn?
Yes, all children who attend the program must be members of the Children’s Museum of Richmond. Purchase your CMoR Membership

4.How do I register my child for Stay and Learn?

All children must be enrolled online at www.childrensmuseumforichmond.org. To sign up, click on the class you would like your child to attend. The first time you sign up you will need to create an account. You need your CMoR membership ID number to complete the form. Please email Ian Francis, ifrancis@c-mor.org, with any questions regarding your member number. After submitting the form you will receive a confirmation email with details specific to the Stay and Learn program.

5.What will my child do during Stay and Learn?
Children will have the opportunity to participate in games, activities, songs, and stories. Each class will be given time for guided play in the museum, take a train ride, and create a project in the Art Studio. A small snack will also be provided.

6.Does my child need to be fully potty trained in order to participate in Stay and Learn?
No, children do not have to be potty trained, but parents are responsible for bringing diapers and wipes.

7.Will a snack be provided?

A small snack will be provided (ex. goldfish, graham crackers or pretzels). No outside food will be allowed in the classrooms due to allergy issues. Child-specific allergies may be discussed with the Stay and Learn Coordinator.

8.What should my child wear?

Children should wear clothes appropriate for play and shoes must be worn at all times. Children are expected to wear a Stay and Learn t-shirt provided by the Children’s Museum. Parents are required to provide a change of clothes for each child

9.What happens if I am unable to pick my child up on time?

Children should be picked up promptly at 12:00pm. There will be a $10.00 late charge for children who have not been picked up by 12:05pm. A fee of $1 will be added for each additional minute after 12:05pm.

10.What does my child need to have when dropped off?
Each child will need a complete set of spare clothes (top, bottom, shoes, socks, and underwear). Please make sure all items (including the bag) are labeled with your child’s first and last name.

11.What if my child is having trouble with drop-off? What should I do?
Drop-off can be just as hard on the parents as it is on the child. Let your child know prior to attending the program that you are going to drop them off and that you will be returning. If a child continues to be very upset or is inconsolable, the Stay and Learn staff will contact his or her guardian.

12.If my child is not feeling well are they allowed to attend? What happens if my child gets sick while attending the program?
Parents with children who display signs of illness (fever, runny nose, etc.) will be asked to reschedule their class. Parents who have dropped off their child for Stay and Learn must always be within 30 minutes of CMOR-Short Pump.

13.What is the cancellation policy?
All cancellations should take place via email 24 hours prior to the child’s scheduled Stay and Learn class. Families will be given the option to reschedule.

14.What type of security will be in place to ensure my child’s safety?
Upon check-in at the front desk, parents will be given a card that corresponds directly with their child. Parents will be expected to return the card as well as show photo ID to pick up their child from the program.

15.What if different individuals are dropping off and picking up?

Parents call fill out an “Approval for Pick-Up” card when dropping off. Those individuals on the card will need to show a photo ID.

16.What happens if my child is hurt while attending Stay and Learn?
In the event of a minor injury, basic first aid will be provided and an Accident Report will be filled out and given to the parent. For more serious injuries parents will be notified immediately.
