2007 – 2008 CMoR Field Trip Programs For Preschools & Daycares
- All programs are aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning, NAEYC, VA Foundation Block Standards.
- Field Trip Programs are available September 10, 2007 – June 2008, Monday through Friday from 9:30-5:00.
- All programs are $8.00 per person and are about an hour long.
- Each Field Trip Program includes unlimited time to explore and play in the Museum.
- For reservations: Please call in advance 474-7015 or email education@c-mor.org
- Group Visits: Groups of 10 or more can enjoy unlimited self-guided exploration time in the Museum for $6.00 per person.
- CMOR Programs at Your School: Offered throughout the school year based on availability. Please call 474-7015 for information.
- Food: Groups may bring a lunch. Tables are limited but seating is available in the lobby and outside plaza.
- Parking: Free parking adjacent to the Museum.

Dinosaur Discovery (Pre-K)
Foundation Blocks of Early Learning: Literacy Standards, Math Standards NAEYC Standards: Reading and Writing Standards
Uncover clues from the past to learn how they lived and what they looked like. Work like a paleontologist and take part in a dig, classifying your findings. Move through the dinosaur alphabet to avoid a volcano.
Puppet Palooza (Pre-K)

Puppets come alive as the children enjoy a show, learn to use their own hands as a puppet and create their very own puppet to take home.
Story Stretch: Drumsticks (Pre-K – Kindergarten)

Children will enjoy an Asante tale from West Africa, The Leopard’s Drum, and find their own rhythm and patterns as they participate in a drumming circle and create their own masks.

Come to the museum to take a trip around the world with the book Madlenka. Children will celebrate the diverse world we live in through play, literature, art, movement, reading and writing.
What Senses I Have! (Pre-K – Kindergarten)

I can see, I can hear, I can taste, I can touch and boy does that smell! Students learn about the five marvelous senses we all have and which body parts are involved. Ned’s Head makes the trip filled with all sorts of tactile objects to handle. Students will make a “sense-ational” collage to bring home.
James River Explorers (Pre-K – Kindergarten)

Take a journey along the James River and discover which animals rely on it for survival. Follow their tracks along the riverbank while making tracks of your own. Catch a camouflaged fish and create a natural art print to take home with you.
Scribbles and Wiggles (Pre-K – Kindergarten)

Create masterpieces according to the music that is being played. Students will be encouraged to let all of their creative juices flow and use the music as a guide. Creative movement, music and a variety of drawing tools will be used.
Circle of Friends (Pre-K – Kindergarten)

Who lives next door? Students will discover the rich, diverse celebrations of Richmond neighbors. Through hands-on activities students will explore Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Lunar New Year, Diwali, Christmas and Eid.
Blooming Butterflies (Pre-K – Kindergarten)

Investigate pattern, shape and color while learning the lifecycle of a butterfly! Students will create a beautiful watercolor painting to show their discoveries.

What does it take to have a garden? What tools do birds use to get their food? What are the ingredients needed to make things grow? We will make our own special blend of soil to keep and start our own little garden.
