Q: Where can I find out complete details about Legendary Santa?

Q: When does Legendary Santa open to the public? 

Legendary Santa opens to the public on the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 25, 2017 at 9:00 am. Legendary Santa’s last day will be Saturday, December 24, 2017 at 2pm. 

Q: Does it cost to visit Legendary Santa? 

Entrance to Legendary Santa is FREE and professional photographs can be purchased.  All photo proceeds support the operation of museum programs such as Legendary Santa, the Central Virginia Children's  Book Bank and CMoR’s Scholarship Fund. 

Q: Do I have to pay to enter the museum? 

To visit the museum, separate admission is required - $9 per person for adults and children over one year.

Q: What is the Genworth Foundation Holiday Village? 

Located across from Santa Land, this exhibit invites guests to explore the cultural symbols, family traditions and customs of six holidays (Diwali, Eid, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Lunar New Year, and Christmas) celebrated around the world. The Genworth Foundation Holiday Village is open November 1st through January 1st and is FREE of charge.

Q: Where is the Children's Museum of Richmond located? 

The Children’s Museum of Richmond is located at 2626 West Broad Street near the corner of Broad and the Boulevard, adjacent to the Science Museum of Virginia. 

Q: Where can I park when I am visiting Legendary Santa? 

Free parking is available at the front and rear of the Children's Museum of Richmond.

Q: Where should I enter the museum? 

Visitors for Legendary Santa should enter through the Children’s Museum of Richmond’s main entrance. Sunrise and Sunset ticket holders are asked to enter through the Group Entrance (signage will be placed pointing to this entrance).

Q: What photo packages are available for purchase during Legendary Santa?

Q: What methods of payment are accepted? 

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express as well as cash. We do NOT accept checks.

Q: Can I make advance reservations to visit Legendary Santa? 

Visits to Legendary Santa are on a first-come, first-served basis only. If your family is on a tight schedule we recommend purchasing Sunrise or Sunset with Santa tickets as wait times can exceed 2 hours.

Q: What is Sunrise or Sunset with Santa? 

Sunrise or Sunset with Santa is an advance ticket program that allows a limited number of families the opportunity to experience the magic of Legendary Santa, including watching Santa come down the chimney, without waiting in the public line. The program begins promptly at the times listed and lasts approximately 45 mins.  Photo packages are not included in the ticket price but may be purchased during the visit.

Q: What is the cost for Sunrise or Sunset with Santa? 

Tickets are $60 per family.  Families are consider to be groups of 6 people or less.  Photos packages are not included in the ticket price.

Q: How do I purchase Sunrise or Sunset with Santa tickets? 

You can purchase tickets online at LegendarySanta.org or call 804-474-7003.

Q: When will the "Santa Schedule" be released?  

Once the Santa season begins, you may call the Legendary Santa Hotline (804-474-7009) after Legendary Santa closes for the next day's "Santa Schedule". Because of HR policies, no exceptions will be made. 

The Legendary Santa Hotline will open on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 and will close on Monday, December 25, 2017. 

Q: Can groups visit Legendary Santa? 

Absolutely, however reservations are not available. For all visitors to Legendary Santa, the ratio of one adult for every five children is mandatory. For groups, we request only one group photo, not individual, be taken during your visit with Legendary Santa. Line attendants will be present to ensure adherence to this policy. 

Q: Will strollers be allowed in the line to visit Legendary Santa? 

Strollers may be used in line until the entrance of Santa Land. By order of the Fire Marshall, strollers may not be used beyond the entrance to Santa Land. A parking place will be provided for strollers during visits. The Children’s Museum will not assume responsibility for lost or stolen articles.

Q: Can food be purchased during my visit with Legendary Santa? 

The museum shop features a kiosk that offers coffee, yogurt, juice drinks and other healthy snacks. There are numerous kid-friendly restaurants located in the immediate vicinity of the museum as well, and a list can be obtained at the front desk.

Q: What else does Santa's Workshop sell? 

The Museum Shop offers a fantastic selection of unique and educational gifts for every child on your holiday gift list. Check out our great collection of Melissa & Doug items, puzzles, DIY kits, instruments, crafts, toys and infant gifts. Shoppers are not required to pay museum admission to enter the Museum Shop and all proceeds benefit museum exhibits and programs. 

Q: What is Legendary Santa's Fawn Shop? 

Returning this year, Legendary Santa's Fawn Shop is a tradition originating from Miller & Rhoads. Parents may purchase “Fawn Bucks” at the Museum Shop and send their children shopping in the Fawn Shop to find some special, pre-wrapped presents for their parents, siblings, grandparents (with the help of volunteers).

Q: Does the museum offer gift wrapping? 

Due to the high volume of visitors during the Holiday Season the museum is not able to provide this service for its guests.

Q: What are the Legendary Santa Teas? 

Another long-standing tradition, Tea with Santa offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a special tea and story time while singing along with Santa, Snow Queen and the Singing Elf in an intimate setting where it all began – The Tea Room at the former Miller & Rhoads building – now the Hilton Garden Inn. Enjoy seasonal treats including the famous reindeer cake during this magical holiday experience.

Q. How do I purchase tickets for Tea with Santa? 

Tickets are $36 for Children’s Museum of Richmond patron members and passholders, $40 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased online at LegendarySanta.org or by calling 804-474-7003.

Q. Where is the Hilton Richmond Downtown and where do I park for Tea with Santa? 

The Hilton Richmond Downtown is located at 501 E. Broad Street.  There is valet parking available at the Hilton Garden Inn as well as street and enclosed parking areas.  Contact the Hilton Richmond Downtown for full details. 

Q: Do children under 1 require a ticket for with Tea with Santa? 

A ticket is required for all participants other than infants in carriers or who are being held by a parent/caregiver. 

Q: Can special food accommodations be made for those with allergies? 

Yes, contact the Hilton Garden Inn for details.

Q: Should we bring a change of clothes to play in the museum after seeing Legendary Santa? 

Even though all paints and other materials in the museum’s Art Studio are water-based and washable, we recommend a change of clothing for children who are specially dressed to have their portraits taken with Legendary Santa.

Q: What is the Legendary Santa Club? 

A membership to the club provides guests with a free emailed photo, a 20% discount on additional photo packages, pre-paid Fawn Shop dollars, a Fast Pass that allows access to the front of the line during Legendary Santa Club Days (Dec 5-9), plus 4 admission passes to the museum.

Q: How much does it cost to join the Santa Club? 

Costs vary depending on when you join.  Currently the price is $80 and is available until November 23rd or until supplies last.

Q: How do I join the Legendary Santa Club? 

Club membership may be purchased online at LegendarySanta.org.

Q: Will Seymour the Friendly Dinosaur be making appearances during Legendary Santa? 

Yes! Seymour will be appearing along with his holiday friends Polly the Penguin, Sidney the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and the Grinch at select times throughout the holiday season.
