Camp FAQs

Camp FAQs

If my child is enrolled in starter camp, does he/she need to be potty trained?
No, your child does not need to be potty trained. CMoR’s highly trained educators will change diapers when necessary. Please be sure to pack a change of clothes, diapers and wipes.

Will I need to pack a snack?
No, we will provide snack (either goldfish or animal crackers). Campers will enjoy a 15 minute snack break.

Where should I go to drop-off/pick-up my child?
At CMoR Central, drop-off/pick-up will be located at the group entrance doors (located to the left of the main entrance – on the other side of the brick building addition). At CMoR Short Pump, please go to the front desk and an associate will direct you to the camp classroom.
For all camps, please have a picture ID ready. You will need to sign in your child using the sign-in sheet. Please inform the camp staff if another individual will be picking up your child.

Can I arrive early to drop off/pick-up?
You are welcome to arrive early, but camp doors will not open until the designated drop off/pick-up times. Drop off is at 9:00 am and pick up is at 12:00 p.m.

What will my child do during camp?
Campers will participate in a variety of activities based on the theme of the camp. Activities will include, but are not limited to: art projects, games, story-telling and museum exploration time. A newsletter will be available each week regarding camp activities.

What is the educator to camper ratio?
All camps will have 1 camp counselor and camp volunteers. We strive to maintain an ideal 1:5 ratio. Counselors and all volunteers undergo background checks prior to working at CMoR.

Who should I contact if my child will be late/absent for camp?
Please contact Alma Cheyne at 804-474-7012 (office) or 804-714-5971 (camp cell).

What should my child wear to camp?
We suggest campers wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. On the first day of camp, campers will receive a CMoR camp t-shirt. Campers must wear these t-shirts each day of camp.

Does CMoR offer any type of discount on camps?
Yes! Camp scholarships are available for families who meet certain household income requirements. CMoR awards partial and full scholarships based on tax return information. To apply, please contact Alma Cheyne, acheyne@c-mor.org
