Donate to the Children's Book Bank

The Book Bank requires approximately 25,000 books donated each year to meet the needs of Central Virginia’s children. The Children’s Book Bank accepts new and like-new donations of children’s books at both Children’s Museum locations. Your book donations are distributed directly to underserved children and organizations that serve at-risk children.

You can make a difference in a child’s life with your donation of one book.

One study found that in middle income neighborhoods the ratio is 13 books per child; in low-income neighborhoods, the ratio is one book for every 300 children. (Neuman, Susan B. and David K. Dickinson, ed. Handbook of Early Literacy Research, Volume 2. New York, NY: 2006).- First Book

Your business, organization, school or family can organize a book drive. Please click here for more information on book drives and donation needs.

If you have already held a book drive or have books you would like to donate, please click here to fill out a donation form. For your convenience, hard copies of this form are available at both CMoR locations or you may download a .pdf version here.

The Book Bank also accepts monetary donations. Operating donations assist in purchasing under-donated books such as Spanish-language books, organizing book drives, and training volunteers to process incoming donations and outgoing requests. To make a donation today, please click here.
