Book Bank Champion Award Luncheon

The Children's Museum of Richmond's Book Bank Champion Awards Breakfast is an opportunity to honor an individual who has positively impacted early childhood literacy in Virginia, as well as to recognize two of the region's most outstanding preschool and kindergarten teachers.

This year, we are pleased to present the Book Bank Champion Award to Hugh Joyce.  Hugh is not only well known for his starring roles in many of James River Air Conditioning Company’s commercials, but he also serves as a dedicated volunteer to the Richmond community.  Hugh is a member of the Richmond Rotary Club and has helped the Children’s Museum of Richmond with numerous initiatives. He combined both philanthropic interests when he recommended the Central Virginia Children’s Book Bank to be one of the beneficiaries of the 2014 Nutzy Rotary Funn Run. With the help of his fellow Rotarians, Hugh raised $24,500 to provide underserved children from throughout Central Virginia with books.

In addition, the museum would like to honor Beth Howe of River Road Preschool as Central Virginia's Preschool Teacher of the Year and Annie Babb of Betty Weaver Elementary as Central Virginia's Kindergarten Teacher of the Year.  These two outstanding professionals exemplify the spirit and dedication early childhood teachers devote to preparing children for success in school and in life.

Thanks and congratulations to these three individuals who make such an important contribution to our community.  Photos coming soon!
