[Play of the Week] One Leg Challenge

Blog Image:

We put PLAY in capital letters because it is so important to human development.

It is the vehicle children use to learn, cope, self correct and explore the world. CMoR is so dedicated to promoting play we incorporate it into everything we do.

Each week we will post on the website a new ‘PLAY of the Week’ activity for you to do with your family. It will be an unplugged activity that can be done at the dining room table, in the tub, at the park or just about any place.

One Leg Challenge

Skills:

  • Understanding numbers and developing number sense
  • Building body awareness, strength, and coordination through non-locomotor activities

What you will need:

  • Space (outdoors or indoors)

What to do:

  • Players cross their arms and hop on one foot without letting the other foot touch the ground.
  • Players count (1,2,3,4…) while hopping on one foot.
  • If any player lowers their leg and touches the ground, counting stops and the game is over.
  • Repeat to see how long you can jump on one foot and how high you can count!
